Midwifery in PEI

Presently, Health PEI is looking to hire more midwives to meet the demands for midwifery services on the Island.

Midwives Recruitment Incentive Program

To help with recruitment and fill the high-demand vacancies within Health PEI, the Province has created the Midwives Recruitment Incentive Program. The program offers financial incentives for new graduates or experienced midwives looking to relocate to PEI, with additional incentives for those accepting positions in rural areas.

Candidates for the Program can be newcomers to the Island, or PEI residents, and must meet the following criteria:

• Be eligible to work in Canada, and
• Meet the criteria of registration with the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives.
